The thing is, being “green” isn’t just about solar energy. It’s a big one that we like to talk about here at Sturtz Construction, but there’s lots of other ways to go about saving the planet besides installing some huge solar panels on your roof. So, to move the topic away from solar, let’s see another renewable source. Can’t look like we don’t support all kinds of green energy, after all!
This is an easy one: we get the wind to spin the turbines for us, and bam! Energy! Seems pretty easy, huh? So, why don’t we have more of them?
Well, there’s a couple of problems. First, wind is not a stable source: it goes and comes, assuming we don’t want to build turbines that are hundreds of feet tall. Not only that, but they disrupt the view & skyline, and humans like their sunset views. The other problem is is that they’re loud, and no one wants a turbine farm near their house.
Another problem is that the turbines might harm bats and birds, though no one’s quite sure if they’re totally dangerous or not.
But here’s a question. Would you have your skyline disrupted if it meant it could lower your ecological footprint just a bit? Would you be okay with noise that’s not any worse than traffic if we could burn less coal? The nice thing about wind turbines is that you can use them and use the land for something else – agriculture, for example. Your cows aren’t going to care about a turbine.
Think about it.
